An epic 10 Day Munro bagging expedition across the Cairngorms and beyond with the opportunity to summit up to 20 Munros!
This is a unique opportunity to challenge yourself on our Ten Day Expedition traversing the high Cairngorms and Angus Mountains whilst summiting up to 20 Munros, including some of the highest mountains in Britain above 4000 feet (1219 metres) such as Ben Macdui, Carn Toul and Angels Peak, and others in isolated and difficult to get to areas such as Beinn a Bhuird and Ben A’an.
Starting at the western edge of the Cairngorms this lightweight 10 day Trek includes 7 over night wild camps and one rest day camp in Braemar including 2 nights in the Braemar camp site. We will make our way generally east across the three main plateaus of the Cairngorms over the first 5 days before descending to Royal Deeside. Following our rest day in the picturesque village of Braemar we will continue for the next 4 days east through the stunning Ballochbuie Forest onto the Balmoral Estate and the Munros of the White Mounth, before taking in the Munros of the Angus Hills, Glen Doll, Corrie Fee and our end point and pick up at Glen Clova.
Although this will not be a fast paced walk, and there will be some time for relaxation and contemplation, days will be long and a good level of mountain fitness will be required so that the stunning environments you pass through can be thoroughly appreciated. The Expedition will take in variety of environments ranging from easy paths in Ancient Caledonian forest to trackless mountain terrain, including boulder fields, expansive arctic tundra plateaux and river crossings. Whenever possible wild camps will be in isolated high mountain locations, generally above 900 metres (3000 Feet).
To keep weight to a minimum this trek will include food restocking on route.
Munro summits to be possibly attempted will be:
Other areas visited will be the stunning Lochs of Etchachan and Muick, with views to the isolated lochs of A’an and Einich. We will also pass close by to a number of iconic bothies including Corrour in the Lairig Ghru and the royal bothies of Gelder Shiel and Glas Alt Shiel on the Balmoral Estate.
The route we follow will be flexible and adapted on a continuous basis to the conditions and how the group is performing. There will be opportunity to take on related skills such as navigation, and those relating to long distance self supported lightweight trekking and wild camping.
